Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Sam Armstrong was born on the road and kept on running. Now residing in Gainesville, Georgia, Armstrong has earned his reputation as pound for pound the strongest man in the locker room, including the incredible feat of lifting some of the biggest competitors to come through 901 Wrestling. Armstrong’s athleticism helped him earn Match of the Year in 2017, but championship gold had seemed to elude him. However, the death-defying, shot taking, “high” flyer of 901 Wrestling is always the right moment away from making history and reaching glory, and finally got his moment in April 2019, defeating Dustin Anthony for the 901 Light Heavyweight Championship! The moment would not last, however, as Sam would lose the title in June back to Dustin Anthony, with no rematch granted, sending Sam back to the bottom of contenders. A leg injury sidelined Armstrong, but he has recently returned. However, the fire that earned him a title seems to have been smothered, as Sam tries to refire that spark. Sam was on the receiving end of an attack by The Storm that ended up dislocating his jaw. However, he has received clearance and faced Josh Matthews again, earning the first victory over any of The Storm in months. Sam’s string of bad luck continued after the victory, as he feel to the resurging Walker Hayes, leading him to snap, and give himself the title of “Perfect” Sam Armstrong. However, perfection was short-lived when he lost to Kylan James.
